Seattle Rock n' Roll 1/2 Marathon

After 6 months of training, physical therapy, lots of ice and ibuprofin, it's done! I ran in my first official 1/2 marathon yesterday! Me, along with 27,000 other runners, hit the streets in Seattle VERY early yesterday. I left Duvall at 4 am! We started the race in Tukwila (near Southcenter) and ran to Qwest field. There were live bands every mile or so, and LOTS of people, so it made for a "fun" run. It was overcast all morning - perfect weather for a long run.

I learned a few things so next year when I do it again, I'll be even better prepared and can run a better race! So who's going to join me next year? Mark your calendars - June 25, 2011!

I'll take a few days off this week, but then it's back outside for more training - I've got the RAGNAR relay race on the 23rd and 24th of July. Stay tuned - I should have crazy stories from that race. 189 miles, in 2 days (all day and night), a team of 12 ladies, each of us running 3 legs of the race, "sleeping" in sleeping bags on gym floors for a few hours here and there - sounds like fun!

Last Day of School

Last day of preschool for Jared
He's excited to start kindergarten in the fall!

Last day of school for Cameron and Ryan.
This was the last day at Stillwater for both Cameron and Ryan. Cameron will be in middle school next year and Ryan will attend the PAT class in Carnation in the fall.

School's out! We had our first annual ice cream party as the kids got off the school bus after school today. Now, if it was actually warm enough to eat ice cream. Maybe we should have served hot cocolate instead!

Now all we need is the sun and we're ready to start summer break!

Father and Sons Campout 2010

Last weekend was the annual Father and Sons Campout for our ward. Mom loves this annual event! This year they headed to Cascade Park, a church-owned property near Arlington, about an hour from here. The weather this Spring has been very wet, but the rain dried up and the sun came out - you couldn't have asked for better weather!

They all had a great time - roasting marshmallows, going down the zip line, playing on the rope swings, throwing rocks in the river, and after Drew bribed them, they all went swimming in the very cold river.

My friend Heather invited Megan and I to come over for a girls pajama party. We ate treats and watched Tinkerbell. And finished up in time for an early bedtime! The highlight of the night was holding 2-week old Wynne. So cute!

Duvall Days

Sunshine + 10K race + parades + ice cream for dessert = a perfect day!
After 11 straight days of measurable rain, the sun came out today for Duvall Days 2010! I started the morning with a very hilly 10K race - I ran it in 51:37, which was faster than I did it last in 2007. A personal best!

Drew brought the kids down to the kiddie parade so they could walk in the parade with our ward's Primary. And we scouted out a good spot to watch the real parade and had a good time - lots of horses, politicians, cub scouts and a few marching bands.

We headed back downtown later in the afternoon so Cameron could play with his school band at the main stage. This is their last performance of the year.
So between all the Duvall Days activities, yard work and house cleaning, we're tired out tonight! But it's been a fun-filled day!

Here's hoping the sun decides to stick around for awhile!
